Ah, Dragon Ball, the Anime that has a special place in all our hearts. One of the things we always look forward to is their fighting games, and what form they will take. By now, you've heard of Dragon Ball FighterZ. A 2D fighter that calls back to probably the best of the DBZ fighting games, Budokai 3. Only this time, it's got some aspects of games like Marvel vs Capcom with its team Dynamic. One of the surprising things about the game, however, is that there was no mention of it coming out for the Nintendo Switch. The platform that has the gaming world up in a tizzy due to its surprising graphics power and its hybrid ability to be both a home console and an on the go handheld.
Well, thanks to a relatively accurate leaker from Reddit Leakileaks, our prayers may finally be answered. Turns out, Bandai is indeed planning on a Switch port, though later in the year. We can't blame a lot of these devs that are now rushing to port their games to the Switch. Everyone was very unsure of how well the Switch was going to do. Now that it's keeping pace sales-wise with things like the Wii and the PS4, everyone's clamoring to get their IPs onto the Switch. Dragon Ball FighterZ is due to release on PC, PS4, and XB1 on January 26th, 2018. The Switch port will most likely see a Mid Q3 release next year.
If Bandai is smart, they will wait to find out if a Smash Bros. game is going to be announced/released next year and work to beat that release to get an edge in before the party fighting game Tyrant takes over our Joy-Cons.
